About OUT
Founded in 1996, OUT is a professional, non-profit arts group and registered charity whose mission is to create professional performing arts projects that explore and celebrate queer culture, history and identity.
A project-based creator, producer and presenter, OUT’s mandate is to create a censor-free climate that offers queer performing arts a professional opportunity. OUT presents projects to a mainstream audience, often alternating between French-language and English-language based materials. For over a decade, our productions have ranged from original creations to co-productions, international presentations, work-in-development, and cabaret / burlesque, providing support for emerging and established artists from all cultures, backgrounds, and orientations. Lending a voice to work that might not be otherwise heard, OUT offers professional artists the opportunity to cultivate their craft while building on our contemporary canon of queer creation. OUT networks with similar producers and artists via its Pink Network, which OUT helped to establish in 1999 as Canada’s only online hub for queer performing arts and artists.
