After the success of The Factory Project in Fall 2008 (nominated by the Montreal English Critics Circle Awards or MECCAs for best production of the 08-09 season!), OUT teamed up with Studio 303 in 2010 to help co-present Jess Dobkin’s Everything I’ve Got. Currently, we’re in the middle of making a huge transition in Artistic Directorship structure, the first ever since the company was founded by David Allan King and Robert Simard in 1996. Moving into interdisciplinary performance, we’re so excited about the future ahead! The Factory Project may be finished but its new creations quickly hit the road! Just as we had hoped, PEEP! by Anna Papadakos and Winston McQuade was but one of several installations that continued to make the rounds following the event at  the Festival de théâtre de l’Assomption and Théâtre Hector-Charland. It’s offshoot, Montreal Love, was presented in 2010 for Nuit blanche, featuring projection installation and live painting. Local Warholian poster and installation artist Gray Fraser continued to set up shop at Studio 303’s 2009 Edgy Women and elsewhere with ‘Factory-made’ artwork of live spectators, and Teatro Berdache’s Steve Gin has continued to develop his Warhol play for various audiences out West. The Other Theatre’s incredible iPod-inspired The Loft re-incarnated itself into a whole new hybrid of performance installation following the project.

Bravo to everyone involved in the project, and as we’ve had many requests for another Factory Project, let’s just say we’ll keep that in our back pocket for now! Inspiring new creation was what The Factory Project was all about, and we couldn’t have done it without the partnership of Canada Council for the Arts, Studio 303, and an ambitious number of truly magical artists from coast-to-coast.
